Dettagli

The planet Mars has always stimulated the interest and imagination of human beings.
Today, it is the subject of an increasing number of dedicated studies and missions, which are revealing unexpected characteristics. In this seminar, we will illustrate some of the planet's features based on the latest observations, with a particular focus on ongoing studies at the University of Genoa, adopting an interdisciplinary approach encompassing physics, astronomy, and geological sciences.

Speakers

Evandro Balbi is a Ph.D. student at the University of Genoa in Environmental and Territorial Sciences and Technologies. He graduated in Geological Sciences with a thesis conducted within the framework of Italian-German cooperation in Antarctica. He then obtained a post-graduate contract for studying earthquake and landslide deformations using interferometric analysis. Currently, he is involved in studies of Martian geology and geodynamics.

Silvano Tosi is an associate professor at the University of Genoa. He has primarily focused on scientific research in elementary particle physics in experiments at Stanford and CERN accelerators. In recent years, he has also been interested in astrophysics and cosmology, participating in the ESA Euclid mission and managing scientific activities at the Regional Astronomical Observatory of Parco dell'Antola.
