In the framework of the HOLMES project, the preparation of the 163Ho source plays a crucial role. In particular, it has to fulfill three main pre-requisites: uniform surface distribution, chemical homogeneity and must be obtained using a method that guarantees high yields.
In this seminar, molecular plating, drop-on-demand inkjet printing and coupled reduction are illustrated as three different methods for the preparation of Ho source and their advantages and disadvantages are presented. The deposition morphology of the obtained sources, investigated by means of autoradiography and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, is presented, too.
