The seminar aims to provide a first introduction to the world of elementary particles and fundamental interactions.

After a brief historical introduction, modern accelerator experiments will be introduced (with particular reference to the LHC accelerator at CERN in Geneva).

Particular emphasis will be placed on the graphical aspects that accompany this type of research.
