High energy physics is in a paradoxical situation: the Standard Model, considered unnatural according to mainstream theoretical understanding, continues to be confirmed by experiments that instead progressively disfavour its extensions designed to obtain natural theories. Assuming that this will continue to be the outcome of future experiments, I try to extract clues from present data that point towards unconventional theoretical ideas.
