Laurea honoris causa for Stefan Hell, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry

On November 14, 2023, the University of Genoa will confer an Honorary Doctorate in Physics upon Prof. Stefan Hell, a renowned Nobel Laureate in Chemistry in 2014.

The event will take place in the captivating Aula Magna of Palazzo Balbi Cattaneo, located at Via Balbi 2, Genoa, starting at 4:00 PM.

The ceremony's program includes addresses by the Rector, Federico Delfino, who will welcome the attendees. This will be followed by greetings from the Dean of the School of MFN Sciences, Prof. Emanuele Magi, and the Director of the Department of Physics, Prof. Maurizio Canepa. Subsequently, Prof. Alberto Diaspro, Full Professor of Applied Physics, will deliver the Laudatio, preceding Prof. Stefan Hell's Lectio Magistralis titled "Spatial Detail and Temporal Dynamics at the Molecular Scale with Fluorescence Microscopy."

To conclude this extraordinary academic day, the choir of the Januenses Academici Cantores will perform the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur.
