KM3NeT is a high energy neutrino telescope under construction in the Mediterranean Sea as part of an international collaboration. Once in operation it will be able to measure the flux of high energy neutrinos to study the mechanisms of the production of cosmic rays and to identify the sources in our Galaxy, especially in the central part. It will also be able to study processes related to neutrino flavor oscillations and dark matter. The Genova group is currently engaged in the construction of the detection unit and in the data analysis of the small-scale ANTARES detector currently in operation in France.
The Km3Net experiment is co-financed in Italy by the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and a specific National Operational Programme.
