Research activity

My research activity focuses on the reduction of quantum noise which limits the sensitivity of gravitational wave interferometers. In particular, I am dealing with the design and testing of some fundamental optical components for squeezing experiments. Some optical components will be tested at the optical laboratory in Genoa and then integrated into the EGO optical bench for EPR experiment. Another crucial part of my activity concerns automatic alignment of cavities to be integrated on the interferometer, also for the AdV+ upgrade and optical simulations for auto-alignment of cavities through the optocad and custom software. The improvement of the gravitational wave interferometric detector sensitivity will enhance the quality and the quantity of gravitational waves observations.
