Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021 selected the best 1000 universities in the world, out of a base of more than 1800 analyzed universities, and promoted the University of Genoa from the 501-600 range in 2020 to the 401-500 range, confirming the continuous growth and improvement of our university on the international scene.
Excellence in Italy
The Global ranking of Academic Subjects 2021 analyzed the performance in different subject areas of more than 4,000 universities from 93 countries around the world. Just over 1,800 of these made it into the final ranking; in Italy, UniGe represents excellence for:
- Oceanography (1st place)
- Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (3rd place)
- Physics (5th place)
- Biomedical Engineering (6th place)
Excellence in the world
The University of Genoa is the only Italian university (and 40th in the world) ranked for Marine/Ocean Engineering.
In the world ranking, the bands of excellence in which UniGe is placed, referring to individual disciplinary fields, confirm the high quality of research and the growing number of international collaborations of the University.
