Dario Ferraro, Fabio Cavaliere, and Maura Sassetti from the Department of Physics of the University of Genoa, in collaboration with colleagues Marco Genoni from the University of Milan and Giuliano Benenti from the University of Insubria, have published a review and perspective article in the journal Nature Reviews Physics.
The work, entitled “Opportunities and challenges of quantum batteries”, presents an overview of quantum batteries:
innovative nanodevices that exploit the properties of quantum mechanics to overcome the limits of traditional approaches
to energy storage.
Written in an accessible yet rigorous style, the article discusses the operating principles, theoretical models, and experimental realizations of these batteries. In addition to highlighting the advantages arising from quantum properties, it also illustrates their various prospects, offering an original perspective on future developments in this high-impact field.
