UniGe strengthens its counselling service

The "Together" psychological counselling service

The University of Genoa is promoting an important initiative to promote the well-being of its students by enhancing a counselling service dedicated to providing support to those who are experiencing a situation of personal distress.

The counselling service is the result of the collaboration between the Servizio Orientamento e Tutorato and DISFOR - Department of Education Sciences of the University of Genoa. The service is run by a team of psychologists and psychotherapists who are experts in supporting young adults in situations of personal, relational and/or learning-related discomfort.

The service is free of charge and is open to all students of the University of Genoa, whether in or out of course; it works by appointment and guarantees anonymity and confidentiality of personal data.

To book, please fill in the online form with all the information requested. The operators of the Service will contact the student with a phone call - which will be anonymous - to arrange the first appointment with a psychologist of the team supported by a trainee psychologist.

The counselling process usually lasts five meetings, followed by a follow-up meeting after three months.

The general objective of this initiative is to offer the opportunity to find support and advice in relation to situations of personal discomfort: doubts or uncertainties about one's personal and emotional abilities, but also difficulties in relationships with other students, with teachers, or the need to refine one's study method.

The course focuses on the following specific objectives

  • deepening self-knowledge
  • activation of awareness of one's own personal resources, at an emotional and cognitive level
  • support for change processes
  • effective coping with situations of personal, relational or learning-related difficulties.

The service also offers students the possibility of conducting interviews using electronic technologies for distance communication, in compliance with computer security measures, in accordance with the sector's regulations, as it is equipped with efficient data protection systems.

More information is available on the counselling pathway page.

The "Together we don't stop" listening desk

In this phase of health emergency, in which students may experience states of mind characterised by loneliness, anxiety, worry and stress, the Service offers specific psychological support, aimed at overcoming the difficulties of this situation and preventing the risk of highly critical psychological conditions.

This is the "Insieme non si ferma" (Together we won't stop) listening desk, which, with its agile structure and variable number of meetings depending on the specific situation, can provide an immediate response to the need to share one's state of mind or to focus on difficulties in the academic pathway linked to distance learning.

To access the listening desk, simply fill in the booking form available on the "Together we don't stop" page.
